STORY DRAMA at Virginia Rep
Experience books in a whole new way! Classic stories come alive for preschoolers at Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. Each Monday during the 6 week session we will take a multisensory journey through a favorite work of children’s literature using age appropriate process-based creative drama. This one hour program is designed for children ages 3 ½ – 5 years old as an ideal introduction to the magical world of theatre.

Swift Creek Mill Theatre is a not for profit organization dedicated to bringing arts and culture to central and southern Virginia. Part of our mission is fostering creativity and imagination in the next generation. SCMT’s Youth Education Program features youth shows, summer camps, and after school classes designed to engage children with all aspects of theatre including performing, costuming, set design, lighting, and directing. After school classes for spring 2023 begin in March and are eight-week classes tailored to different age groups. Classes are 5:00 – 6:00 pm on either Mondays or Tuesdays. Kindergarten-2nd graders dive into imagination through story books and building off each other’s ideas. 3rd – 5th graders harness powers of creativity by creating improvisation games and working up to solo stage creations.

An after school theater arts education program for children 6-18.  They offer classes in drama, voice, dance and theater during three 10-week sessions each fall, winter and spring.  CharacterWorks also offers summer camps and Broadway-style musicals for the community.

Offers classes & private lessons in music, dance and drama for ages 3 to adult.  SCAPA’s dance classes include Kinder Dance, ballet, tap, jazz, Irish, modern, and hip hop.  Private lessons are available for flute, guitar, organ, piano, strings (cello, viola, violin), and voice.  SCAPA also offers drama and children’s music classes and summer camps.

Next Star Performing Arts Center is a place where children ages 5 to 13 can develop a love for Performing Arts while learning valuable life skills.  They currently offer the following classes/programs: Acting, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, Film Summer Camp, Leadership Seminars for boys and girls and birthday parties.  The mission of Next Star is to develop leadership skills, encourage creativity and promote self-confidence through the use of Performing Arts.  The Next Star Team is made up of professionals in the field of Performing Arts, Journalism and a Certified Life Coach.

HATTheatre was founded in 1993 as a non-profit production company, a member of Richmond’s professional “fringe” with two related aims; the first is to produce quality yet affordable shows to our audiences using the area’s most dedicated and talented artists. The second is to stimulate the love of theatre through our Education Series. We offer classes year-round for ages 5 to adult focusing on helping students develop confidence   in themselves while fusing performance and life skills. COMEDYSPORTZ IMPROV
ComedySportz Improv Theatre is offering programs for “101 Improv Basics” for adults, high school, and middle school students.  Improv training teaches valuable lessons for performers as well as non performers.  These programs are geared towards the beginner that is looking to hone their presentation skills, increase performance confidence, encourage creative thinking and enhance storytelling all while working in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

YOUNG MIDLOTHIAN SINGERS

The Young Midlothian Singers is a choral group that offers children ages 7-12 a unique opportunity to participate in a singing group and to perform throughout the Richmond area. The singers learn a wide range of songs, receive vocal training, and learn innovative choreography. A delightful show for friends and family showcases the results of their hard work at the end of each session.  YMS also offers Encore, a girls’ middle school group. Encore provides a more challenging experience for older students. This audition-only group works with more complex harmonies, vocal ranges and choreography.

BARD UNBOUND
Bard Unbound illuminates the fire of Shakespeare by getting it off the page and off the stage, through education and performance in nontraditional spaces.  Workshops and residencies ALL YEAR ROUND!
