July 4th Events!
Liberty Or Death, Public Reenactment. 1:30pm and 3pm shows. Historic St John’s Church. Celebrate America’s birthday! Come witness the extraordinary rhetoric of Patrick Henry as he convinces his fellow delegates to take up arms against the King! Tickets are required and can be purchased in advance. This event will sell out but repeats every Sunday through Labor Day at 1:30pm.
Henrico County’s Red, White and Lights July 4th Event. 5pm-10pm. Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. “Red, White and Lights” is a free, annual family-friendly event. Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blanket and enjoy music, food trucks, and roving entertainment. The evening will conclude with a performance by the Richmond Symphony featuring a repertoire of patriotic and America-themed selections with guest conductor Antoine T. Clark and a laser-light show finale. Free. Henrico Police will close the park entrance at 8:30pm, or earlier if event capacity is reached. Guests will need to be in the event area to see and hear the show.
Chesterfield County Fourth of July Celebration. Gates Open at 5pm; fireworks at dark. Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, Fairgrounds (across from L.C. Bird High School), 10300 Courthouse Road. Celebrate independence with a spectacular fireworks display at dark! Includes food vendors and special entertainment. No alcohol, glass bottles, pets or personal fireworks are allowed. Blankets or lawn chairs are recommended. Limited parking, All traffic should enter parking areas via Krause Road. No rain date. Free.
CarMax Free Fourth of July. 9am-5pm. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. FREE admission to the garden all day. FREE admission to the Garden on this day includes exhibits including M&T Bank RESTORE: The Healing Power of Nature. This event is sponsored by CarMax. (Rain or shine). Free.
Dogwood Dell Fourth of July Fireworks. There will be fireworks at Dogwood Dell! But there will be no entertainment or food vendors before the show. Fireworks start around 9:15 p.m. Seating within the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater will not be available for viewing the fireworks. The show can be seen from the Shields and Swan Lakes area, Fountain Lake area, and the area in front of the historic Carillon. Watch out for no parking zones around the area on Blanton Avenue, Arthur Ashe Boulevard and Idlewood Avenue. Arthur Ashe Boulevard will close to vehicular traffic at 6 p.m. Those in attendance will be able to park at Ruger Field, Fountain Lake, and Shields Lake.

Colonial Heights Fireworks Display. The City of Colonial Heights will be hosting a 4th of July Fireworks Show on Sunday, July 4th at 9:15PM. Viewing for the show will be off Interstate 95, Exit 53 or 54 in the Southgate Square/Wal-Mart Area. Bring blankets/lawn chairs.
