The play Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is very fun with lots of colorful scenery and fun songs. It is based on the books Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and The House on East 88th Street by Bernard Waber.
Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is about a crocodile named Lyle that belongs to Hector P. Valenti (a famous actor). But Hector leaves Lyle in a apartment in NY that the Primm Family moves into. The parents are scared at first but not the son Josh. They decide to keep Lyle because they don’t know that he belongs to someone else. Lyle becomes Josh’s best friend.
Lyle likes to set the table, clean Josh’s room, play baseball and much more… So when Hector comes back they don’t want to give him up but they have to. Hector wants to make Lyle an actor too! But things don’t work out great because Lyle and Hector get FIRED because Lyle is sad and couldn’t get the crowd to laugh. Lyle runs away looking for Josh. Hector calls Josh to see if he has seen Lyle so Josh goes looking for him and he asks his friends Skippy and Susie to help him and they find him! Soon Hector sells Lyle to the Primms and everyone is happy in the end.
My favorite part was when Josh plays baseball with his friends and Lyle hits a home run! The best song is when Mrs Primm discovers Lyle and tries to tell the others about it.
Other fun things about going to the Children’s Theatre of Virginia to see Lyle, Lyle Crocodile:
After the show the Actors will sign your playbill! If you get there early there is coloring on the tables and there is a snack-bar if you want something to eat while you watch. If you like Sweet Frog, Mix-it, and Menchies you’ll love Yapple (frozen yogurt) nearby! And the Willow Lawn play area for little kids too.
Hope you come!
