Looking for a fun, and (somewhat) healthy dessert idea for kids? You use your imagination to find the best toppings. Kids will come up with some great ones too!
Chocolate Coated Banana Bites
Ingredients
- 3-4 bananas peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch slices
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Toppings such as crushed Oreos, crushed Vanilla Wafers, toffee bits, sprinkles, coconut, finely chopped nuts, and other creative ideas for toppings. Place each topping in a separate bowl.
Preparation
- Microwave chocolate and milk on low, stirring every 20 seconds until it reaches smooth dipping consistency. Let stand to cool slightly.
- Dip each banana slice in chocolate first and shake off excess chocolate – then dip/roll in dish with your choice of topping(s). See below for option.
- Place chocolate dipped and coated banana slice on wax-paper lined cookie sheet (you can also use parchment paper or foil to line the cookie sheet).
- Repeat with remaining bananas, chocolate, and toppings.
- Freeze until firm, about 2-3 hours, then enjoy!
Another Option
Put a small dollop of peanut butter on the top of each banana slice on wax-paper lined cookie sheet. Slowly pour a small amount of chocolate over the banana/peanut butter to coat. You can also use a fork to gently dip banana/peanut butter into the chocolate. Freeze as directed above.
Kids will love making this dessert as much as they love eating it. Be creative with the toppings and have fun.
