All Fired Up Art Camp is an art-intensive summer camp offering specialized instruction and a wide variety of projects in several art media. Each week has a unique theme to allow repeat campers to have a fun and rewarding experience with each visit. Regardless of the week’s theme, every camp session allows campers to explore the art of clay, ceramics, glass fusing, drawing, wheelthrowing, tie-dye, painting, and more!  The standard Half Day camps are Mon-Fri 9 am-1 pm for ages 6-14. $200 plus tax. At the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, kids spend the summer making real art with the help of some of Richmond’s most prominent professional artists.  Week-long summer camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. and parents can opt to enroll kids in an extended day program when they sign up for both morning and afternoon classes in the same week. Choose from dozens of courses such as Masked Music Parade, Pet Portraits, Piñata Party and Digital Dreamscapes. Henricus Historical Park offers several great camps and learning experiences for kids ages 6 to 12.  At Camp Pocahontas, campers will explore the environment and life of Pocahontas and the culture of the Powhatan people through demonstrations, activities and arts and crafts.  At the  James River Camp, camper s will discover the environmental features of the historic James River as 17th-century Virginia Indians and the Colonial settlers would have encountered it. Paddle a kayak and identify how the plants and animals of the river were hunted, gathered and used throughout history.  They also offer some fun Discovery Days for younger children.

Heldergate Stables

Heldergate Stables is offering day camp. Camp is from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, with a horse show and family picnic on Saturday! Early drop-off and late pick-up are available at no extra charge to accommodate your work schedule.  Can’t make it during those weeks? Contact us to ask about a riding program for a different portion of the summer! We are flexible and will be happy to accommodate riding plans for children, teens and adults of all experience levels.   For younger or beginning participants, camp offers a fun, active alternative to ordinary childcare, and includes early drop-off and late-pick-up when needed. Besides foundation horseback riding skills, we also teach horsemanship and theory, basic nutrition and barn care, and a sense of responsibility, initiative and cooperation. Equine specialists will visit and give demonstrations, including farrier science and veterinary medicine! Students will bond with “their” horses throughout the week as they learn to ride and care for them, and demonstrate their skills in the horse show on Saturday.  Aside from riding lessons each day, camp participants will also engage in games, arts and crafts, group sports and other activities.  For our older or more advanced riders, camp offers a chance to have two lessons a day, sort out specific issues with your horse, work toward individual riding or competition goals, and have some fun all day while doing it!  Owning a horse is not necessary; board for the week is available if you do!  *Single days available for $70 per day*

RFC Summer Camp is a great way for kids ages 9-18 to stay active, have fun, and enjoy the summer while learning and improving their fencing.  Camps are for for both beginner and experienced fencers alike.  Led by a number of college-age competitive fencers who keep the students active through group lessons, competition, footwork, games, technique & tactics, and fencing videos.   Summer Camp begins at 10am each morning and ends at 4pm.  All necessary equipment is provided including jacket, glove, mask, and weapon.  Camps are held in a full-time, air conditioned, fencing facility.
