Monday, March 28th

Spring Break Activities at Maymont. These programs available Monday to Friday.  Add’l programs on select days.  Most programs require advance registration. Go to the event calendar to register online.  Monday to Friday events include – Adventures in Vegetable Growing, 10am-2pm, Jack’s Vegetable Garden; Behind the Scenes, 1-1:30pm, Nature Center; Pinwheels & Pastimes, 1-3pm, Maymont Mansion Lawn; A Rabbit on the Cabinet, 2-2:30pm, Maymont Mansion; The Secret Life of a Victorian House, 3-3:45pm, Maymont Mansion.   Fee and Free activities.

Spring Break Magic Day.  Children’s Museum of Richmond.  Check the website for details for each location!    Free with museum admission.

Itsy Bitsy Artists.  10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  Explore your creative side with Miss Lisa.  Free with admission.

Family Scavenger Hunt.  10am-12pm.  Maymont Grounds.  Explore Maymont’s 100 acres in a whole new way! Crack secret codes for clues, and use maps and riddles to find your way around the estate in this family-friendly scavenger hunt. Different difficulty levels are available. Ages 4 and older; adult must accompany child. $15 per family or group (up to four people)/$12 members. Register online; for information, call 804-358-7168. Limited space for walk-ups.

Animal Enrichment.  2-4pm.  Maymont Nature Center.  Assist Maymont staff in making enrichment items for the bobcat, fox, bears, otters and more. Deliver them to the animals and watch as they engage in the fun! Ages 5 and older; adult must accompany child. $15 per person/$12 members. Register online; for information, call 804-358-7168.

Deconstructing Stuff. 2pm-3pm. Gayton Branch Library. Deconstructing Stuff is our latest installment of Geek Out. Deconstruct [dismantle, disassemble, take to pieces, pull apart] stuff you use every day and take a look inside. Adults must attend to assist those younger than 11 years old.  Free.

Music Time for Ages 5-7. 2pm-3pm. Twin Hickory Area Library. Musical games, songs and dance for ages 5-7.  Free.

Time to Sing. 10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  You and your little ones will enjoy singing, dancing, and making music together. Kids will use simple instruments and movements to learn new songs as well as sing along with their favorites. Free with admission.

Rock & Roar: Disney Lion Guard Music Class.  10am-10:40am.  3041 Lauderdale Drive, Henrico, VA 23233.  ZUKA ZAMA! Disney and Kindermusik have partnered to create an amazing music and movement class, based on Disney’s The Lion Guard! The best part? It’s FREE! Join the fun at Melody Magic Music Studio! Weekly Storytime.  11am.  Pottery Barn Kids, Short Pump Mall.  Kids can enjoy some of their favorite books read aloud. Free.

Avengers: Age of Ultron. 1:30:00 PM-4:00:00 PM. Glen Allen Branch Library. Get ready for Captain America 3 by coming to our Spring Break screening of Avengers: Age of Ultron! We will be giving away a movie gift card at this event. Wear something Marvel Comics-related, and you will get an extra entry into this contest!

Book Jeopardy. 2pm-3pm. Twin Hickory Area Library. Students in grades 2-5 are invited to play on Jeopardy teams.

Spring Break Movie. 2pm-4pm. Tuckahoe Area Library.  Minions!.

Geocaching.  2pm-4pm.  Maymont Nature Center and Grounds.  Learn about geocaching – treasure hunting using GPS units or smart phones with geocaching apps.  Fee.

Family Jump Night.  6pm-8pm.  Pump It Up, 9555 Kings Charter Drive, Suite I, Ashland, VA.  Come play on the giant, soft, fun-filled interactive inflatables during Family Jump Time, then enjoy a pizza dinner together! Pizzas and 2-liter drinks can be ordered at check-in, and food will be available later in the playtime. Check the calendar for any schedule changes. Fee.

Teen Writer’s Guild. 6pm-8pm. Twin Hickory Area Library. Meet with fellow young writers in the area to discuss the craft, share work, and explore great writing.

The Amazing Mr. B!. 6:30pm-7pm. Libbie Mill Library. Join us for a highly engaging and interactive magic show with the Amazing Mr. B! Due to program limitations, we are unable to accommodate group visits for this program. Please call the library to arrange something special for your group.

Family Night at Thunderbolt Indoor Karting.  6pm-close.  Thunderbolt Indoor Karting.  $10 per Race for Groups of Two or More.  Thunderbolt is the perfect place for family fun! LEGO Build. 2pm-3pm. Tuckahoe Area Library.  They have the LEGOs, you bring your building skills. Structures will be displayed in the children’s area of the library. For elementary aged children, 5-11.  Free.

Fairy Chase.  10:30am-12pm.  Maymont Garden Hall.  Enjoy a magical morning filled with whimsy and make-believe. Play games, make wishes, hear stories and receive your very own wings and wand as you learn what fairies like to do and where they like to hide. Imaginative clues guide you around the lawns of Maymont as you search for the winged creatures, finding treasures along the way. This enchanting program concludes with a sweet treat of fairy cakes and lemonade. Meet at Maymont’s Carriage House. Ages 4-8. $22 per child/$18 members. Parents are welcome to observe the program.
