Virginia Repertory Theatre is proud to offer sensory friendly performances for children with autism and other sensory, social, or learning disabilities. During these identified performances the house lights will be kept at 50% (no blackouts). The sound will be tempered to avoid exceptionally loud and startling moments. The performances run between 45 and 60 minutes and have no intermission.  The staff, volunteers, and performers will understand that some of those in the audience may vocalize and move around throughout the performance. Special allowances will be made for these individuals to bring their own snacks as needed for comfort and dietary concerns.

These select performances will not be available to the general public so that they can better serve the special needs of children with autism and their families.

The following Saturday morning matinees are designated as performances for special needs individuals and their families who may not generally feel welcomed or comfortable in the traditional theatre-going atmosphere. At this time Virginia Rep is very pleased to be able to offer these tickets free of charge. Complete the reservation request form for your family’s tickets. The number of available seats is limited.

This program is currently funded so that Virginia Rep is able to offer these performances to school groups free of charge. Space is limited. Complete the reservation form to begin the process of planning a Field Trip for your Exceptional/Special Education students.
