Pandas: The Journey Home.  SMV Dome.  Meet the pandas at China’s Wolong Panda Center and learn more about the team dedicated to securing the future population of pandas.

Water Play.  Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.   During warm spring, summer, and fall days, the Children’s Garden is the coolest place to be! Bring or wear your bathing suit and water shoes to enjoy the gentle water sprays. Don’t forget a towel and remember that swimming diapers are required for those not potty-trained. Water Play is operational when the air temperature is 70 degrees or higher.  April 21 – Sept 30. (weather permitting).  Free with garden admission

Butterflies Live!  Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Butterflies LIVE! is an indoor exhibit in the Conservatory geared for all ages. When It’s Your Child: Understanding ADHD.  7pm-9:30pm.  CPR office conference room, 8500 Bell Creek Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.  “What is wrong with this kid?” “Why can’t she just get with the program?” “I’m so tired of bad news from the school!” If this sounds familiar then you have already wondered if your child could have ADD/ADHD. Even if you already know your child has ADHD, this class will help you understand what ADHD is and what it looks like in a child. You will learn what ADHD is biologically, emotionally, behaviorally and academically. You’ll hear about the other “issues” that appear tethered to ADHD such as depression and anxiety. You will feel informed and more focused in how to proceed after this class.  Fee.

ADHD: Paths To Success (for Parents/Caregivers of Children Ages 4-11): Noon. CMoR Central.  Delivered by Commonwealth Parenting.  Fee.

Inside/Out.  4:15pm – 6 pm.  Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center.  For Ages 5 – 8.  Explore the collection and observe the architectural and landscape elements found on the museum grounds. While looking outside, make sketches and then turn drawings into watercolor paintings in the studio.  Fee.

Drawing 4:15pm-6pm.  Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center.  For Ages 9 – 12.  In the galleries, discover artists who use everything from horses to tigers as inspiration. Then practice drawing animals and learn to create forms and the illusion of texture.  Thursdays, Sep 25, Oct 2, Oct 9  (3 sessions).  Fee.

150th Anniversary of the Battle of New Market Heights and the Campaign Before Richmond.  Henrico County, Virginia.  Relive the Battles! Watch as Confederate and Union soldiers reenact the last battles for control of Richmond, the Capital of the Confederacy. Walk upon the same fields where our ancestors made history 150 years before and experience:  Fierce combat recreated by dedicated reenactors, Presentations from Civil War historians, Live concerts featuring period music, Children’s activities featuring educational games and crafts.
