Easter Weekend with Peter Rabbit

A visit with Peter Rabbit at Lewis Ginter

A Richmond favorite for many years!  Come meet Peter Rabbit as he poses for photographs on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm.  Lewis Ginter will also have a featured kids activity in the Children’s Garden Carriage House Breezeway.  Children can craft and create their own Spring Garden Hat.  A new addition this year are “Story Tree/Book Baskets”.  Families can enjoy a special basket with a blanket, book, and activity at their leisure.

In addition to the Easter fun, your family can enjoy other self-guided experiences in the garden.

Richmond Concert Band

Easter Concert at the Bloemendaal House

On Saturday only , the Richmond Concert Band will delight with a “Where Have I Heard That Before?” concert in front of the Bloemendaal House from 2-3pm.

Egg Hunts
There will be four scheduled egg hunts on the Carriage House Lawn – 11am, Noon, 1pm, 2pm.  During each scheduled time, there will be two zones – one for children age 4 and under and one for children ages 5-10. Parents are allowed in the 4 and under zone only; no more than 2 adults per family please. Children 4 and under may participate in the older hunt with a sibling by request. Children age 5 and up are not allowed in the 4 and under zone. Every egg has a toy or candy prize, and some eggs include additional certificates. Certificates may be redeemed for prizes at the Egg Hunt Prize table near the egg hunt area. There is a limit of ten eggs per child, please. Toys may not be suitable for children age 3 and under.

Easter on Parade, the beloved Richmond tradition that showcases attendees “parading” up and down scenic Monument Avenue.  There will be music, arts, crafts, children’s activities, food, balloon artistry, and a petting zoo. Don’t miss the people and pet watching – a favorite of adults!

Bunny Photos

Enjoy a visit with the Easter Bunny at your local mall and get a photo with the bunny.  Bunnies are at the Short Pump Mall, Virginia Center Commons, and Chesterfield Towne Center.

Getting Crafty with Eggs

The Curious History of the Egg
Saturday, Mar 28th, 10-11:30am. $6. Three Lakes Nature Center. For ages 8-10. Although often overlooked, the ordinary egg played an important role throughout history. Learn it’s history and create your own ‘jeweled’ eggs. Information: mon08@henrico.us

Eggstraordinary Eggs!
Tuesday, Mar 31st, 6-7pm. $6. Belmont Recreation Center. For ages 8-11. Create unique decorative eggs without the fuss and mess of dye. Using washi tape, fabric, glitter, and more. Be pleasantly surprised how egg-cellent they turn out! Information: nes@henrico.us

Petting Farm

Visit with baby bunnies, chicks, ducks, lambs, and more in Short Pump Mall’s Main Plaza.  The event is held April 4th through 12th (but closed on the 5th) 11am-5pm.  Weather permitting and free.  804.360.1700.

Eggstravaganza

April 1st.  10am-11:30am. Dorey Park. 2999 Darbytown Road, Henrico, VA, 23231. Ages 1-5 with an adult. Come out and celebrate spring while attending this fun-packed morning at Dorey Park. Meet the bunny and enjoy a variety of activities including bunny hop music, inflatables, face painting, and crafts. Don’t forget to bring your basket and join us for the egg hunt finale. Free.

Easter Egg Cookie Decorating

April 4th.  11am-1pm; 2pm. Southern Season, 2250 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA. We’ll provide the egg-shaped cookies, icing and other decorations, you and your kids provide the creativity! (And you don’t even have to worry about making a mess in your kitchen). Free.

Easter Cookie Baking and Decorating

April 4th. 2pm. Southern Season, 2250 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA. Spring is upon us and it’s time to decorate some cookies! In this fun hands-on class the cooking school staff will teach kids the techniques to “pipe and flow” like a pro and create beautiful and delicious treats. Ages 6-13. $20 for first child, $10 each additional child. Parents please join us for free!

Eggstravaganza! Easter Egg Hunt at Carter Mountain

April 4th. Starting at 12 noon. 1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, VA. The Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 3-8 includes over 8,000 hidden eggs and one hayride. Free to attend the event. The Hunt is only $6.00 per child—ticket sale information is available online and sales are limited.

Bogeys Sports Park Mini Golf Easter Egg Hunt

April 4th. Bogey’s Sports Park, 1675 Ashland Road, Manakin Sabot, VA, 23103. From 9am until the eggs are gone! Children 12 and under purchase a round of mini golf, find an egg somewhere on the course while you play and bring it inside for a prize! Limit one egg per player. Fee to play, egg hunt included.
