Have you heard?  The Science Museum of Virginia has unveiled something spectacular – THE DOME!  It is the most technologically advanced digital Dome theater in the world!  The Dome has been upgraded with a new state of the art Nanoseam screen and 5 projectors capable of high definition ten times the power of your home theater system.   This is not the old IMAX theatre you may have visited in the past.

The Dome offers two types of programming:

• Cosmic Expeditions, or journeys through the universe, that are made up of an astronomy feature film and then a live, planetarium type, presentation where the staff takes you through the solar system identifying different stars, constellations, planets, and moons.  They even ask for input from the audience if time allows.  But prepare yourself, this experience is beyond anything you will have seen before.
• Giant Screen Films that allow the viewer to experience our world in a whole new way.  These films are breathe-taking and provide for full immersion in a particular topic.

Giant Screen Film:  Great White Shark
Saturday, March 15th – Friday, April 18th, 2014

Dive into the realm of Earth’s most iconic predator – the creature we love to fear – the Great White Shark. Uncover the secret lives of these creatures that pre-date dinosaurs and how they have evolved to remain at the top of the food chain.
