Swift Creek Mill Theatre

Swift Creek Mill Theatre is a not for profit organization dedicated to bringing arts and culture to central and southern Virginia. Part of our mission is fostering creativity and imagination in the next generation. SCMT’s Youth Education Program features youth shows, summer camps, and after school classes designed to engage children with all aspects of theatre including performing, costuming, set design, lighting, and directing. There is something for everyone, from the creatively curious to the avid performer.

Our building is ADA accessible and our staff is VisitAble trained on inclusivity.

Classes for spring 2023 begin on March 13^th and 14^th. They are eight-week classes tailored to different age groups. Classes are 5:00 – 6:00 pm on either Mondays or Tuesdays with will be a final share for parents on the last day.

K-2^nd Graders Monday After School Class

In this fun, exploratory movement and performance class, students will spend eight weeks engaging with the foundations of theatre. They will dive into imagination through story books and learn to work together by building off each other’s ideas. Each class session will focus on a different world and story.

3^rd-5^th Graders Tuesday After School Class

In this theatre foundations class, students will develop hands on skills that harness the powers of creativity. Each child will develop ideas for improvisation games and world building. They will gain confidence by working up to being solo on the stage and writing their own scenes.
