The Children’s Museum of Richmond Announces CarMax $1 Family Nights

The Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMoR) is pleased to announce that CarMax $1 Family Nights are coming to the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s Downtown location (2626 West Broad Street). Presented by CarMax, $1 Family Nights will be held the second Friday of each month from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at CMoR’s Downtown location for the next three years. On these discounted evenings, admission to the museum will be $1 per person (adults and children). The first CarMax $1 Family Night will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 with a special kickoff celebration.

“We are thrilled to bring $1 Family Nights to our community in partnership with CarMax,” said Shannon Venable, Children’s Museum of Richmond President & CEO. “CarMax $1 Family Nights will help to further our mission by increasing the number of families who will have access to educational resources and programs in the museum – with our ultimate goal of engaging families in learning through play.”

The $1 Family Nights program was designed as an extension of the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s core education offerings. In addition to discounted admission, families in attendance will be able to participate in free educational programming that encourages problem solving, critical thinking, and STEAM career exploration, in addition to the exploration of art, movement, and dance.

CarMax’s sponsorship of the $1 Family Nights program is made possible through the organization’s three-year commitment to supporting CMOR – a total investment of more than $100,000. This multiyear commitment also includes continued support of the Service Station exhibit at the museum, where children have the opportunity to pretend they are mechanics and work together to repair a car.

“CarMax associates are passionate about providing opportunities for children to learn and grow through play here in our hometown of Richmond,” said Leslie Parpart, director of community relations at CarMax. “We are honored to partner with CMOR to make $1 Family Nights possible for families in the Richmond region.”
