Have you checked out Virginia’s First Day Hikes? If not, you’re going to love what you see!
A perfect holiday tradition for the whole family, a First Day Hike is a way to start the New Year off right and make a commitment to a healthier lifestyle –all while appreciating the beauty of nature. There are lots of options available for families, including kids of all ages. And State Parks are located all around the Commonwealth of Virginia, including Pocahontas & Powhatan State Parks, close by.
Hikes range from 1 hour to a full day depending on age, physical fitness level, and desired level of activity. Most events are open to children, but there are some designated for adults only so check the website for details. Some even allow you to bring your family dog along for the walk!

Join the hikers this year and get moving on the First Day Hike. And maybe it will become a tradition for your family for years to come!
