Fall Fun at Lewis Ginter!

lewis-ginterThe leaves are starting to turn and it’s a great time to be outside.  Check out the fun activities coming up at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden!

GOBLINS AND GOURDS

Sunday, Oct. 23rd
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Regular Garden admission
Harvest celebration with live music, pumpkin decorating, storytelling, and more. Kids invited to wear costumes.

  • Music: The Indigenous Gourd Orchestra performs 1 – 4 p.m.; parade around the Children’s Garden at 2 p.m.
  • Demonstrations: natural dye, pumpkin and gourd carving, wood carving, blacksmithing and broom-making; plus tastings from Relay Foods and Edible Education.lewis-ginter-conservatory
  • NEW! Scarecrow Quest. Guests are invited to walk along the Tree Trail to discover scarecrows dressed to represent “outdoor” occupations (beekeeper, horticulturist, park ranger, etc.)

BEER + GARDEN = OCTOBERFEST

Exclusive keg pinning will feature beer enhanced with hops grown at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Saturday, Oct. 29th
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Regular Garden admission; food and drink available for purchase. Presented by Garden caterer Meriwether Godsey.
A brew of beautiful gardens, great beer, fun contests, live music, and family-friendly activities will be on tap.

·         Highlight: pinning a small keg of beer from Center of the Universe Brewing Company, enhanced with hops harvested from the Garden. Name yet to be released, but the style is a hop-forward Pale Ale.

·         Beer for Purchase: Other Center of the Universe beers available for purchase will include Oktoberfest, Slingshot Kölsch, and Maple Brown Ale.

·         Food for Purchase: Bratwurst Sliders, Sauerbraten, Beer Cheese Soup, Pretzels, German Potato Salad, Apple Strudel, German Chocolate Cake and more! Kid’s menu, too. |

·         Games & Contests: Costume contest, Stein Hoisting, Cornhole Tourney, Musical Chairs, Ladder Golf, Life-Size Jenga, and more. Raffle for a Grand Prize which includes a private tour of Center of the Universe Brewing Company for four people; raffle tickets are $1 or free; one for each non-perishable item brought to donate to FeedMore.

·         Not Just Beer! German-style wines and non-alcoholic beverages also available for purchase.
