Puppets Off Broad Street Gears Up for the 2nd Annual RVA Winter Puppetfest

RVA Winter Puppetfest returns for its second season with 12 performances at Richmond Triangle Players. Local companies, Applause Unlimited and Barefoot Puppet Theatre, are joined by Crabgrass Puppets from Brattleboro, Vermont to provide fun family programming over winter break.

Applause Unlimited performs their heartwarming adaptation of “Velveteen Rabbit,” and Barefoot Puppet Theatre will share their lively, energetic show “Little Red and the Gingerbread Man.” Traveling down from Vermont, Crabgrass will be presenting their award-winning “The Princess, the Pea and the Pirate.”

“We are so excited to have Crabgrass down – ‘The Princess, the Pea and the Pirate’ just won best performance at the National Puppetry Festival in Storrs, Connecticut,” says Heidi Rugg, President of Puppets Off Broad Street. She has seen the show four times and is excited to be able to share it with audiences in Richmond.

Performances run twice per day from December 26th through January 1st, with a tiny break on New Year’s Eve. Tickets are only $10 and will be available through the website at www.puppetsoffbroadstreet.org or by calling the Box Office at 804-852-2810.

Two tales rolled into one, tasty, wintry treat for family audiences!

This performance by Barefoot Puppet Theatre combines two well-loved, classic tales to create an original, fun-filled romp through a snow-filled forest. Join Little Red as she builds a snowman, yearns for cookies, and pursues a mischievous Gingerbread cookie through the woods to Grandma’s house. Will she make it to Grandma’s house or be forever lost in the woods? And, more importantly, who will get to eat the cookies? Will it be Little Red or everyone’s favorite Big Bad Wolf?

*Recommended for ages 3 & up*

Performances on December 26th and January 1st at 10:30am and 1pm.
