Part-Time Program Educator – Central location

Educators are responsible for delivering the museum’s educational programs for school groups. Programs touch on a wide variety of subjects including art, math, science, history and are delivered to children ranging in age from 2-8. Educators contribute to planning of programs in accordance with the mission, goals and objectives of the museum, and functions as a public advocate for the museum and its education programs.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaches with the highest level of proficiency
  • Imparts creative ways to enhance museum programming
  • Assists in curriculum development
  • Supports the Education Department performing a variety of roles, including participation in offsite programs, festivals, workshops, exhibit refurbishment, developing floor activities and upkeep of databases
  • Assists in training other staff in educational programs

Qualifications for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Teacher Licensure preferred
  • Passion and appreciation for museum’s mission, values, and goals
  • A high level of self-motivation, initiative, energy and creativity
  • Experience and skill in teaching pre-school and elementary school aged children
  • Experience or targeted expertise in one or more core curricula (math, science, social studies) and early child development preferred
  • Exemplary communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits.  Hours vary, so flexibility is required.  While most hours occur weekday mornings, hours may occasionally include evenings and weekends.  Work is generally performed at our Central location, but occasional travel to one of our other locations or to offsite events is required.  Pay rate for this position is $11/hour.
