Time to Sing. 10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  You and your little ones will enjoy singing, dancing, and making music together. Kids will use simple instruments and movements to learn new songs as well as sing along with their favorites. FREE with admission.

Free Kids Summer Film Series at Bow Tie Cinemas. 10am. Movieland at Boulevard Square, Richmond.  This week – Diary of a Wimpy Kid. First-come, first-seated.   Free.

Weekly Storytime.  11am.  Pottery Barn Kids, Short Pump Mall.  Kids can enjoy some of their favorite books read aloud.

Family Jump Night.  6pm-8pm.  Pump It Up, 9555 Kings Charter Drive, Suite I, Ashland , VA.  Come play on the giant, soft, fun-filled interactive inflatables during Family Jump Time, then enjoy a pizza dinner together! Pizzas and 2-liter drinks can be ordered at check-in, and food will be available later in the playtime. Check the calendar for any schedule changes. Fee.

Join the Parade Musical Playdate!  6:00-6:40pm.  Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041 Lauderdale Drive.  Join the parade! This music class allows children to explore with instruments, beat the drums, and participate in a little parade! Of course, they will also have some fun dancing and singing! Ages 0-7 years, with a parent. Advance registration required. $10/child.

Mommy and Me. 10am-11:30am. Willow Lawn – Outside on the Plaza. Join The Shops at Willow Lawn on the second Wednesday of every month as they host a free morning out with live entertainment and activities designed to enhance parents’ interaction with their children. Thursday, July 9th

Fit Tots. 10am.   Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  It’s never too early to instill the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyles! Participants will be lead through various activities that help develop flexibility and hand-eye coordination.  Free with admission.

Create Your Superhero Magnets. 3pm. Varina Library. Be Strong! Be Super! Create your superhero magnets to hold those important messages to be seen. Materials provided. For ages 10-14. Free

Flowers After 5. 5pm-9pm. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Stroll through the gardens; enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining and shopping.  Family activities in the Children’s Garden from 5pm-6pm.  The Garden partners with Richmond SPCA on second Thursdays of each month and allows leashed pets (Fidos After 5). WaterPlay in the Children’s Garden is open until 8 p.m. during Flowers After 5 (weather permitting). Free with Garden admission.

Friday, July 10th

Storytime. 10am. Cartwheels & Coffee, Carytown.  Sponsored by bbgb tales for kids and lead by Miss Hannah, story time will take you to far away lands, introduce you to new friends with all sorts of interesting creatures, and allow you to discover a world of imagination inside your favorite books!   Free with admission.

Kid’s Fun Night.  6pm-8pm.  All Fired Up, Short Pump & Midlothian.  On the first Friday of each month, All Fired Up is hosting Kids’ Fun Night! Drop the kids (ages 6 to 12) off between 6 to 8pm for a fun-night of pottery painting. Enjoy your time while letting your kids have a fun night out on their own at All Fired Up!   The cost is $25 per child and is for ages 6 and up. Reservations are required and space is limited.  Fee.

Parent’s Night Out.  6:30pm-10:30pm.  Pump It Up, 9555 Kings Charter Drive, Suite I, Ashland, VA.  The kids will be happy with an evening of jumping, games, dinner and a movie! 4-12 years old.  Fee.

Movies in the Park Series.  8:30pm (or when it gets dark). Southside CC (ROC) 6255 Old Warwick Rd, Richmond, 23224. This week – Amazing Spiderman 2.  A weekly friday night, city-wide event, open to the public.  Bring your refreshments, blankets and chairs and enjoy the movie.  Free.

Hanover Tomato Festival. 9am-4pm. Pole Green Park, 8996 Pole Green Park Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.  The Hanover Tomato Festival is a free, family-oriented event with live musical entertainment, rides, games, a petting zoo, over 200 vendors, delicious tomato dishes, the crowning of Little Miss and Tiny Miss Tomato, Hanover Tomatoes and much more.  Free.

Boot Camp for New Dads.  9am-Noon.  Locations vary.  Delivered by First Things First of Greater Richmond.  A unique father-to-father community-based workshop prepares and equips expectant dads to become confidently engaged with their infants, support their mates, and navigate their transformation into dads.  Fee.

Build Black Widow’s Sky Cycle.  10am. Local Lowes stores.  The Avengers are coming to Lowe’s! Bring in your child to build as part of the “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” Summer series. Registration required.  Registration opens 12:00 AM (EST) June 29th. Free.

Moon Bounce Mania.  10am-4pm.  CMoR Central & Chesterfield.  Bounce your way over to CMoR for Moon Bounce Mania! Moon Bounces in all shapes and sizes – you won’t want to miss the fun!  Free with museum admission.

Richmond Pet Expo. 10am-6pm. Indoors at the Richmond Raceway Complex (600 East Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222) Bring your pet to this awesome FREE event for all pet lovers and play, shop, learn, and adopt! Bring your pooch or your bird or even your lizard – just make sure that you have proof of current age-appropriate immunizations (rabies) and that your canine companion is on a non-retractable lead. Learn to Draw Manga & Anime Style. 10:30am. Tuckahoe Library. This workshop will begin with a brief talk on the world of the Mangaka followed by an introduction to drawing skill sets and techniques used by manga and anime artists to help transform their ideas into drawings. Some drawing experience is helpful, but not necessary. This workshop is open to middle school and high school students. Please register in person, online at henricolibrary.org or by calling your library. Registration will begin one month in advance of the workshop. This workshop will be six hours long, so please bring a lunch and snacks. Materials will be provided, or students may bring their own sketchbook.  Free.

“Pirates: Fact or Fiction” Program. 11am. Chesterfield Historical Society Exploring the myths and truths surrounding pirate lore in popular culture.  CHSV’s Pirate event is appropriate for ages eight to adult. Second Saturdays with The Story Lady 1pm.  Barnes & Noble-Chesterfield Towne Center. Come spring into summer with children’s storyteller and author, Ali Pfautz, The Story Lady. The event starts off with stories and songs celebrating fun in the sun, but that’s not all. For June’s Second Saturday there’s an optional pre-order special with summertime crafts and treats following Ali’s performance. Come join the wiggling, giggling fun! Storytime is FREE. 2015 Summer “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” Reenactment Series.  1:15pm – 2:30pm.  Historic St. John’s Church.  1:15 p.m. Doors open, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, 1:30 p.m. Music program, 1:45 p.m. Reenactment begins Reenactment begins (no admittance after program begins or when church is at capacity).  This event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Reservations are available for groups of ten or more for fee of $5 per person, up to 100 reserved seats. Seating is first come, first served. Seat saving will not be permitted. The entire party must be present before seating will take place.  No admittance after the reenactment begins.  This reenactment is not recommended for children under the age of 6. We ask that parents escort restless little delegates outside so that the audience is not disturbed. Purchase tickets at https://www.brownpapertickets.com.  Street parking is available.

Explore the Parables of Jesus through Art. 6pm-7:30pm. Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond, VA 23221. Reveille UMC is offering a creative way to discover and experience the parables of Jesus. Each art exploration will begin with the brief study of a parable, followed by hands-on art projects to help you explore and respond to these key teachings of Jesus in a new way. Art opportunities will be offered for all ages, from young children to adults, and several art options will be offered at each session. Options will vary from week to week, but may include painting, drawing, song writing, drama, wearable art, textiles, and crafting.  The art explorations are open to the public free of charge, but registration is required at www.reveilleumc.org/art-exploration.
