Flowers After 5. 5pm-9pm. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the gardens; enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining and shopping. Family activities in the Children’s Garden from 5pm-6pm. The Garden partners with Richmond SPCA on second Thursdays of each month and allows leashed pets (Fidos After 5). Learn to Build Chalk board Door Hanger – Kids Workshop. 9am-Noon. Local Home Depot Stores. FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 – 12 offered at all Home Depot stores. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. Boot Camp for New Dads. 9am-Noon. Locations vary. Delivered by First Things First of Greater Richmond. A unique father-to-father community-based workshop prepares and equips expectant dads to become confidently engaged with their infants, support their mates, and navigate their transformation into dads. Walgreen’s Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival. Rocketts Landing, 5000 Old Osborne Turnpike, Richmond, VA. Led by the rhythmic beat of a drum, teams of 20 synchronized paddlers, one drummer and one steersperson race 500 meters up the river in 40-foot canoes rigged with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails.

Open Studio Sundays. 1pm-4pm. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center. Go by the studios anytime between Noon and 4 pm to enjoy “make-it, take-it” art activities inspired by objects from the VMFA collection. A new art project offered every month, with assistance from VMFA volunteers! (For groups of eight or more children, please email megan.liles@vmfa.museum.) Free, no registration required.
2015 Summer “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” Reenactment Series. 1:15pm – 2:30pm. Historic St. John’s Church. 1:15 p.m. Doors open, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, 1:30 p.m. Music program, 1:45 p.m. Reenactment begins Reenactment begins (no admittance after program begins or when church is at capacity). This event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Reservations are available for groups of ten or more for fee of $5 per person, up to 100 reserved seats. Seating is first come, first served. Seat saving will not be permitted. The entire party must be present before seating will take place. No admittance after the reenactment begins. This reenactment is not recommended for children under the age of 6. We ask that parents escort restless little delegates outside so that the audience is not disturbed.
