The 17th Annual Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall. 7:30pm. June 4th – 28th. One of Shakespeare’s most delightful comedies. Arrive at 6pm and stroll through the gardens, or bring your picnic dinner to enjoy on the lawn while being serenaded with songs and monologues from the Festival Young Company actors. Then enjoy the performance in comfortable outdoor stadium style seating. Fee.

Monday, June 8th

Itsy Bitsy Artists. 10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  More process than product, your art experience will be loads of fun and sometimes a little messy. Add some color to the world each Monday! FREE with admission.

FREE Camp Sneak-Peek Event!  4pm-4:45pm.  Melody Magic Music Studio.  Enjoy a FREE Camp Sneak-Peek event to check out the Musical Theater Camps for ages 4-11 years at Melody Magic Music Studio. Get a first-hand look at some of the activities and songs they will do in the upcoming weekly camps. Tuesday, June 9th

Musical Open House!  10am-Noon.  Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041 Lauderdale Drive.  Anyone and everyone is invited to visit Melody Magic Music Studio for a Musical Open House! They will have music activities, raffle prizes, and more for children ages 0-5 years! Come see what music and movement for young children is all about!  Drop-in anytime between 10:00 and 12:00.  Please RSVP on the facebook event page.

Time to Sing. 10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  You and your little ones will enjoy singing, dancing, and making music together. Kids will use simple instruments and movements to learn new songs as well as sing along with their favorites. FREE with admission.

Short Pump Pals Meeting. 11am. Short Pump Mall, Outside in the Main Plaza. Join us and the Children’s Museum of Richmond as we learn about what makes those flowers sprout! Create your very own garden pot, plant your favorite flowers, visit with Seymour himself and enjoy face painting and balloon creations!  Free.

Splish Splash Musical Playdate!  6:00-6:40pm.  Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041 Lauderdale Drive.  Splish, Splash! Celebrate all the fun of water, splashing, jumping, swimming, and more! This class is great for anyone wanting a fun music class for their child ages 0-7 years. They will sing, dance, play instruments, and so much more! Ages 0-7 years, with a parent. Advance registration required. $10/child.

Family Jump Night.  6pm-8pm.  Pump It Up, 9555 Kings Charter Drive, Suite I, Ashland , VA.  Come play on the giant, soft, fun-filled interactive inflatables during Family Jump Time, then enjoy a pizza dinner together! Pizzas and 2-liter drinks can be ordered at check-in, and food will be available later in the playtime. Check the calendar for any schedule changes. Fee.

Mommy and Me. 10am-11:30am. Willow Lawn – Outside on the Plaza. Join The Shops at Willow Lawn on the second Wednesday of every month as they host a free morning out with live entertainment and activities designed to enhance parents’ interaction with their children. This month –  Diggity Dudes. Free.

Move with Me. 10am. Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  Clap your hands, stomp your feet, move your bodies to the beat! Miss Sarah Ruppel, of the Richmond Ballet, leads a creative and energetic movement time for your little dancers every Wednesday at 10. Free with admission.

Beach Reads Party. 7pm. Dumbarton Library, Henrico County.  Kick off HCPL’s summer reading club with us! Sign up for Summer Reading, hang out, enjoy snacks and games, and learn about great new summer releases. For tweens and teens. Free.

Thursday, June 11th

Fit Tots. 10am.   Cartwheels and Coffee, Carytown.  It’s never too early to instill the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyles! Participants will be lead through various activities that help develop flexibility and hand-eye coordination.  Free with admission.

Flowers & Fidos After 5. 5pm-9pm. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Stroll through the gardens; enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining and shopping. Garden partners with Richmond SPCA on second Thursdays of each month and allows leashed pets (Fidos After 5). WaterPlay in the Children’s Garden is open until 8 p.m. during Flowers After 5 (weather permitting). Free with Garden admission.

The Amazing Acro-Cats. Gottwald Playhouse. This one-hour show features over a dozen fabulous felines (all former orphans, rescues and strays) walking tightropes, pushing carts, skateboarding, jumping through hoops, ringing bells, balancing on balls and turning on lights. Fee.

Saturday, June 13th

Mid-Lothian Mines Park Historical Tour. 10am-11am. Mid-Lothian Mines Park. Tour Mid-Lothian Mines Park, one of the nation’s earliest commercially mined coal mines in North America. Fee.

Build Iron Man’s Avenjet.  10am. Local Lowes stores.  The Avengers are coming to Lowe’s! Bring in your child to build Iron Man’s Avenjet as part of our “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” Summer series. Registration required.  Registration opens 12:00 AM (EST) June 1st. Free.

Thomas & Friends. Thomas will be performing at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Children’s Museum – Central Location. Thomas is headed to CMoR Central! It’s the kick off of the CMoR Summer Series with the very popular Thomas The Tank Engine & friends. This fun-filled, sing-along adventure is perfect for even the smallest Thomas fan. Free with museum admission.

Bumblebee Jamboree. 11am. Maymont Children’s Farm Lawn. Celebrate National Pollinator Week with family-friendly activities including a live butterfly safari tent, puppet shows, crafts and games. See inside a bee hive, enjoy butterfly garden tours, view the VCU display of live insects, learn pollinator plant selections, enjoy food and beverage samples and much more! Sponsored by Chesterfield County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension. Free.

Hidden Creek Community Day. Noon-4pm. Hidden Creek Park & Community Center. Celebrate the spirit, heritage, and legacy of the Hidden Creek Community. Enhance your day, or just come to play! Music, games, crafts, historical and special presentations.b Free.

Second Saturdays with The Story Lady 1pm.  Barnes & Noble-Chesterfield Towne Center. Come spring into summer with children’s storyteller and author, Ali Pfautz, The Story Lady. The event starts off with stories and songs celebrating fun in the sun, but that’s not all. For June’s Second Saturday there’s an optional pre-order special with summertime crafts and treats following Ali’s performance. Come join the wiggling, giggling fun! Storytime is FREE. Pocahontas Premieres Summer Concert Series. 7pm. Pocahontas State Park.  Bring the entire family out to experience music at the park’s outdoor amphitheater. Bring a blanket, lawn chair and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. Sunday, June 14th

2015 Summer “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” Reenactment Series.  1:15pm – 2:30pm.  Historic St. John’s Church.  1:15 p.m. Doors open, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, 1:30 p.m. Music program, 1:45 p.m. Reenactment begins Reenactment begins (no admittance after program begins or when church is at capacity).  This event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Reservations are available for groups of ten or more for fee of $5 per person, up to 100 reserved seats. Seating is first come, first served. Seat saving will not be permitted. The entire party must be present before seating will take place.  No admittance after the reenactment begins.  This reenactment is not recommended for children under the age of 6. We ask that parents escort restless little delegates outside so that the audience is not disturbed. Purchase tickets at https://www.brownpapertickets.com.  Street parking is available.

Dylan Pritchett on the Ha’Penny Stage.  4pm.  Dogwood Dell.  Part of the 59th Annual Festival of the arts, sponsored by the City of Richmond Parks Department. The Ha’Penny Stage behind the Carillon is a center for children’s theatre and entertainment on Sunday afternoons during the Festival of Arts. Programs include music, theatre, juggling, story-telling and more.  Free.
