Young @ Art: Art in Motion.  11am-Noon.  Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center.  For ages 2 ½ – 5.  Get groovin’ with lines, patterns, and brush strokes and discover techniques artists use to show movement in their work.  Fee.

Teen Writers Guild.  6pm.  Twin Hickory Library.  Teens in 6th through 12th grade are invited to join the writing group and learn about fiction writing and poetry through collaboration with other teen writers.  Free.

The Egyptian Painter.  4:15pm-6pm.  Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center.  For ages 5 – 8.  Paint like an Egyptian in this special portraiture lesson, and then hear fascinating tales of this ancient civilization.  Fee.

Let’s Race! using LEGO® bricks, motors, and sensors. 6pm-8pm. Engineering For Kids Learning Center 1586 Mountain Road Glen Allen. Come and join us for a night of building with LEGO®s to create cars, dragsters, and balloon racers. Participants can use LEGO® motors, sensors, gears, bricks, to build a vehicle or a design of their own using bricks and a balloon to power it. For Ages: 6-11. Registration required. Fee.

Boot Camp for New Dads.  9am-Noon.  Locations vary.  Delivered by First Things First of Greater Richmond.  A unique father-to-father community-based workshop prepares and equips expectant dads to become confidently engaged with their infants, support their mates, and navigate their transformation into dads.  Fee.

Mickey Mouse Mania! 10:00-10:40am. Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041 Lauderdale Drive. M-I-C-K-E-Y… it’s everyone’s favorite guy! Come have a musical morning of fun, all centered around Mickey Mouse! Lunar New Year 2015 – Year of the Goat.  10am-4pm.  CMoR – Central.  Bring health, wealth and happiness in the New Year with dance performances and interactive activities for the whole family!  Free with museum admission.

1781 Arnold’s Raid on Richmond – Revolutionary War History at Henricus.  10am-3pm.  Henricus Historical Park.    Revolutionary War re-enactors will occupy the bluff overlooking the James River and conduct camp, cooking and drill demonstrations. Join American militia, British regulars, Hessians, and Loyalists as they interpret the winter of 1781 when General Benedict Arnold raided Richmond and retreated back to Portsmouth after destroying many military and economic stores. Join us in the Revolution!  Fee.

Art of Manga.  1pm-4pm.  Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Art Education Center.   Join us to learn what Manga is and what makes it different from American comics. In this introductory session, participate in exercises to create Manga-style drawings.  Fee.
