CMoR_Logo-web (2)The Children’s Museum of Richmond is partnering with Collegiate School and Powhatan County Public Schools to host a Kindergarten Readiness Forum for preschool families on Tuesday, December 2 from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. The forum is free to the public, and childcare will be available for pre-registered attendees.

Attendees will hear from both public and private school representatives discussing the process of selecting the right kindergarten and will have an opportunity to ask questions of parenting and school experts as they consider kindergarten options.

The forum will be moderated by Liz Pearce, the Children’s Museum’s Director of
Parent Engagement, and will include Dr. Cheryl Thomas, Ed. D., Director of Elementary Education, Powhatan County Public Schools and Amanda Surgner, Vice President of Advancement for Collegiate School. The focused discussion will include the following topics:
  • Making intentional choices about a school or program
  • The process of choosing a school
  • The role of parents and families around kindergarten readiness
  • Factors to consider for school placement

“We did this event before, and it was so well received we had to have a second session,” said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. “Parents clearly wanted this information, and we are thrilled to partner with both the Collegiate School and Powatan County Public Schools to offer a conversation that will allow parents of preschoolers to hear directly from area experts about one of the most important decisions families make.”
