Teen Tech Week Contest: DIY Book Cover @ Your Library.  Teens! Entries for the annual Teen Tech Week digital art contest will be accepted Saturday, February 22 thru Saturday, March 8. Recreate or re-imagine a cover from a book that already exists.  For Middle School (11-14 years) and High School (14-18 years) students.  Free.

Be the Dinosaur.   A new exhibit at the Science Museum of Virginia.  Check out an animatronic dinosaur and a pterosaur reconstruction as you discover what life was like for dinosaurs. Included with exhibit admission, free for members.

Visit by Happy Family Brands.  10am-Noon.   Children’s Museum – Central.  Happy Family Brands will give out free samples of their up and coming products such as rice cakes, toddler bars and yogis as well as coupons and coloring sheets!  Free with museum admission.

It’s Cold Outside Musical Playdate!  5:30pm-6:10pm.   Melody Magic Music Studio — 3041 Lauderdale Drive.   Brr! It’s Cold Outside! Come inside and play with us! We will be keeping warm, while celebrating everything that is cold! We will use our imaginations to play in the snow and ice skate, be polar bears and penguins, and even do some dancing! Boot Camp for New Dads.  9am-Noon.  Henrico Doctor’s at Forest.  Serving more than 1,000 fathers in the Richmond metro area, this unique father-to-father community-based workshop prepares and equips expectant dads to become confidently engaged with their infants, support their mates, and navigate their transformation into dads.   You can take this class only, or you can sign up for a 3-part class that includes Boot Camp for New Dads, Gearing Up for Baby, and When Baby Makes Three. 2014 Jig By the James Open Feis.  9am.  BenedictineCollege Prep Auditorium, River Road.  Dancers from across the Mid-Atlantic region will compete in solo competitions in levels from beginner through Open Champion, from ages 4 to adult. Engineering for Kids: Straw Rockets.    10:15am-11:45am.  Central Library, Chesterfield County.   Design your own rocket! This Aerospace Engineering program is designed to introduce students to the concepts of aerodynamics, propulsion, structural design, and flight. Design your own pneumatically-driven rocket and learn how to stabilize the rocket’s flight. For kids 7-11 years old. Registration is required and begins Feb. 15. Teen Studio – The Art of the Still Life.   10:30am-2:30pm.  Ettrick-Matoaca Library, Chesterfield County. In this workshop, you’ll learn the steps to still life painting and create your own acrylic masterpiece. We’ll discuss foreground, background, composition and tone, and incorporate these into original sketches and your final canvas. Please wear appropriate clothing for painting.
