Engineering For Kids of Central VA offers exciting hands-on summer camps for children ages 4-14 in all areas of engineering as well as robotics and electronic game design. Girls and boys enjoy investigating a variety of new concepts, designing solutions to real-world problems, and collaborating with peers to apply new ideas through the Engineering Design Process. Every day brings a new task and new discoveries as children are exposed to the careers of Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Marine, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineers.

THIS SUMMER:

Themes this summer revolve around “The Engineering Of”.  Campers will explore the engineering of Pirates, Cities, Food, Travel, Medieval Times, and Power and Energy.  EFK also offers EV3 Robotics and WeDo Camps as well as Electronic Game Design.   Half Day Camps will be offered for 3 hours in the morning or afternoon for Juniors (ages 4-8) and for Apprentice/Master (ages 8-14). Each camp will run from Monday-Friday.  Parents looking for a full time option can enroll their children in both a morning and afternoon camp and receive a discount. Campers are welcome to stay and have lunch with time for free building at no extra charge.

CAMP THEMES:

All themes are divided into two age groups (ages 4-8 and ages 8-14) to provide appropriate activities and skills for each group

• The Engineering of Cities – Environmental, Civil, and Electrical Engineering
• The Engineering of Food – Chemical, Industrial, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering
• The Engineering of Medieval Times – Mechanical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering
• The Engineering of Power and Energy – Electrical, Marine, and Mechanical Engineering
• The Engineering of Travel – Aerospace, Marine, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering
• The Engineering of Pirates – Industrial, Marine, Mechanical, and Environmental Engineering
• Electronic Game Design –using Multimedia Fusion 2 software
• LEGO® Robotics – using LEGO® NXT and LEGO® EV3 for ages 8-14, and LEGO® WeDo for ages 4-8
