Garden Art Studio.  1pm-3pm.  Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Drop-in the Garden Art Studio beside the hidden tunnel and unfold your creative energy. Use provided materials to collaborate, explore and reflect on your own Garden experience.  Free with garden admission.

Picnic Party Musical Playdate   10-10:40am.  Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041   Lauderdale Drive.  A fun music class all about taking a picnic! We’ll take a walk to a pretend park, use our imaginations to play, have a fun picnic, and even do some circle dances! And of course, no class is complete without some instruments! Ages 1-4 years. Short Pump Pals Clubhouse Meeting.  11am.  Short Pump Mall Food Court.  Choo Choo! Join us for Short Pump Pals Train Day. Out Pals can ride the Short Pump Express for FREE during the Pals meeting, plus there will be surprise character appearances! Weather Permitting. Pals will receive a FREE gift – while supplies last.  Free.

Garden Explorations for Families- The Harvest. 3:30pm.  Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Children (all ages) with accompanying adult. Enjoy story time and a fun-filled adventure while exploring different areas of the Garden. Observe your surroundings using a variety of hands-on activities and take-home treasures. Themes change each month and new stories, activities and garden areas are introduced each week. Garden Explorations for Families is an excellent opportunity for homeschoolers! Fee.

Wednesday, September 11th

National Day of Service.  8am-6:30pm, arrive anytime.  Pocahontas State Park.  Participate in self-guided clean up efforts during this day of service.  Fee for parking.  Free.

Drop in and Dig!  9am.  Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.  Families with children are invited to drop-in and participate in simple, easy to learn gardening tasks under the guidance of Children’s Garden staff and volunteers. These family-oriented gardening experiences can easily be enjoyed at home. So join us to learn how much fun gardening with children can be!   Free with Garden Admission.

Mommy & Me and Daddies Too.  10am-11:30am.   Willow Lawn Plaza.  A free morning out with live entertainment and activities designed to enhance parents´ interaction with their children.   This month – Kurt Stemhagen.  Free.

The RVA Street Art Festival.   5.5 acres of walls and buildings on the former GRTC depot on West Cary St. will be adorned with public art, murals sessions, sculpture, and mixed-media exhibits as well as stories and ideas about the history and future of transportation in Richmond, Virginia.

Amazing Animals Musical Playdate. 11-11:40am (ages 1-4 years) OR 12:20-1pm (ages 3-6 years).  Melody Magic Music Studio, 3041 Lauderdale Drive.  In this music class, an animal theme helps us get up and move, as well as use our voices! The Richmond Symphony. 6pm.  Pocahontas State Park Amphitheatre.  Bring the whole family and listen to great classical music in the great outdoors. Gates open at 5 p.m.  Free.
