ALL WEEK

Robots + Us.  Science Museum of Virginia.  Explore differences between humans and robots by examining how lifelike machines imitate moving, sensing, thinking and being. Investigate robotics, computer science and biomedical engineering through enjoyable interactive exhibits and videos. Included with exhibit admission. Free for members.

Butterflies LIVE!  Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Visitors have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures – watch them fly, feed and flutter all around you.  Free with Garden Admission.

Water Play at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  During warm spring, summer, and fall days, the Children’s Garden is the coolest place to be! Bring or wear your bathing suit and water shoes to enjoy the gentle water sprays. Swimming diapers are required for those not potty-trained.  Water Play is operational when the air temperature is 70 degrees or higher. Drop in and Dig!  9am.  LewisGinterBotanical Garden.  Families with children are invited to drop-in and participate in simple, easy to learn gardening tasks under the guidance of Children’s Garden staff and volunteers. These family-oriented gardening experiences can easily be enjoyed at home. So join us to learn how much fun gardening with children can be!   Free with Garden Admission.

Mommy & Me and Daddies Too.  10am-11:30am.   Willow Lawn Plaza.  A free morning out with live entertainment and activities designed to enhance parents´ interaction with their children.   This month – Rocknoceros.  Free.

Friday, July 12th

Cow Appreciation Day.  Chick-fil-A will award a FREE Meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) to any customer who comes to one of their 1,700+ restaurants fully dressed as a cow.  Wear a partial costume and get a free entrée.

YummyFun Workshop and Ice Cream Tasting. 2pm. The FREE event is scheduled for Friday, July 12th, 2013 from 2pm – 3:30 pm. Breyers will sponsor the “YummyFun Workshop” at the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Clare will demo some of her most unique recipes for families. And who doesn’t love yummy fun with ice cream? Free.

Hanover Tomato Festival.  9am-4pm.  Pole Green Park, Mechanicsville, Virginia.  Take home original Hanover Tomatoes, purchase crafts from area artisans, obtain information on products and services from local businesses, enjoy entertainment and free children’s activities and games.

Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck.  10am.  Local Lowes Stores.   The Pizza Planet Truck from Disney∙Pixar’s Toy Story has arrived! Bring your child to Lowe’s to build the iconic truck from the Toy Story films. Registration required.  Free.

Down on the Farm Day.  10am-4pm.  CMoR Central.  Come on down to the farm!  Make fun farm-themed projects, meet Miss Virginia, visit with a real live cow and baby calf and more.  Free with museum admission.

Down on the Farm Day.  10am-4pm.  CMoR Chesterfield.  Participate in fun farm crafts, activities and games.

Reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention.  The Patrick Henry Committee invites you to bring your friends and family to a reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention of March 1775. In the presence of Washington, Jefferson, and other notable Virginians, Patrick Henry delivered his passionate call for liberty, uttering the immortal words, “Give me liberty or give me death!” These events are free and open to the public. Doors open at 1pm for seating on a first-come, first-served basis, Music program begins at 1:30pm, and the reenactment begins at 2pm.  Please call 804-648-5015 for more information.  Free to the public, with a suggested $5 per person donation.
