February Homeschool Programs

 Adventures in Afternoon Art is a new program exclusively for homeschool groups! Learn all about art and explore the museum’s exhibits. Participants will create art using different mediums and will learn about different cultures and artists through hands-on explorations.

All programs are available on Mondays at CMoR Central, Wednesdays at CMoR Chesterfield and
Fridays at CMoR Short Pump. 

 

Week 1 – China 
Children will learn about the importance of the dragon in Chinese culture. Children will create yarn-dragon pictures using shapes and vibrant colors.

Week 2 – Australia
Children will study the art of the Aborigines – the native people from Australia and will create Aboriginal Hand Prints.

Monday, Feb 11 – CENTRAL 
Wednesday, Feb 13 – CHESTERFIELD
Friday, Feb 15 – SHORT PUMP

 

Week 3 – South America 
Children will learn about making patterns and will look at examples of patterns found in molas – a woven shirt from the Kuna culture of Panama City. Children will create a piece of art inspired by Molas.

Week 4 – North America 
Children will learn about the importance of pottery in Pueblo Indian culture & will use clay to create their own pieces of Pueblo pottery.

Wednesday, Feb 27 – CHESTERFIELD 
Friday, March 1- SHORT PUMP
Registration and Additional Information
Cost:
$5.00 per child
Adults are free
$8.00 at the door for non participating siblings
*Museum Memberships do not apply
*Space is limited*Payment transactions are available online, over the phone or in person.
Times of classes:
Children 3-5 years – 1:00 – 2:00 pm
Children 6-8 years – 3:00 – 4:00 pmParticipants must be supervised during the program and
museum exploration at all times.
