Nutzy’s Rotary Funn Run Set for December 1: Strollers Welcome

The Flying Squirrels is planning a fun event for families that coincides with the Dominion Christmas Parade on December 1, 2012. It’s a fun-filled event – from competitive runners to strollers – so everyone is welcome to participate.

As always, the Flying Squirrels seek to promote family-friendly events to support parents raising kids in the Richmond area – and CK loves that mission! They also raise donations for local children’s charities and Nutzy’s Rotary Funn Run will do just that.

The money they raise will benefit First Things First and Boys and Girls Clubs of Richmond. Your donations stay right here in our own community – and you get to have family-friendly fun.

About the Funn Run

The Funn Run will begin at The Diamond at approximately 7:30 AM and conclude at 9:15 AM in time for participants to attend the Christmas Parade on December 1. The run will be limited to the first 2,000 entrants and registration began on Wednesday, September 1st.

The cost to enter is $25 from September 1st – October 15th and is $35 from October 16th – November 15th. Registration closes on Thursday, November 15th.

One of the highlights of the event and the most unique aspect is the “Toddler Division”. Participants in this division will be allowed to push a toddler in a stroller while navigating the course, making it truly a family-friendly event.

“In addition to helping kids, we also wanted to encourage families to be active and participate in the event,” comments Todd “Parney” Parnell, Flying Squirrels Vice President and COO. “The Toddler Division will give the entire family a rare opportunity to be a part of a run like this. It’ll be awesome to see all of the strollers going along the parade route.”

Prior to the Funn Run on December 1st, the Flying Squirrels and West Richmond Rotary Club will host a pre-race day party at The Diamond on Friday, November 30th from 4 PM – 8 PM. In addition to race packet pickup, the event will feature the annual Toys for Tots drive, a Christmas tree lighting, live music and food and drink specials.

There will also be an opportunity for individuals to make donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Richmond and First Things First of Greater Richmond on the website without participating in the event.
