Monday, November 5th

‘Positioned for Success-Making the Right Choices’.  7pm. Godwin High School Auditorium, 2101 Pump Road.  Richard and Kathy Verlander, parents of Detroit Tigers’, Justin Verlander and Old Dominion University scholar athlete, Ben Verlander discuss experiences and lessons learned.  Seating is first-come, first-served.  804.545.1272.  Free.

Tuesday, November 6th

Election Day Ultimate Play.  8:30-4:30pm.  Tuckahoe Sports.  1-Day Camp Early Drop-off/Late Pick-up times available. Fee.

Club Mom.  9am-11am. Chesterfield Towne Center.  Club Mom occurs the first Tuesday of every month in our Food Court from 9-11 a.m. and features great entertainment, fun giveaways for the adults, and free breakfast for children 12 years or younger. (Breakfast tickets are given out until 10:30 a.m. and are valid until 10:45 a.m. on Club Mom event days.).  Would you like to become a member? Stop by the Registration Table and sign up. They do ask for a one time dollar donation that goes to Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now). Your donation is appreciated!  This month – Jesse the Juggler.

Election Day Mini Camp with Bricks for Kidz.  1pm-3pm.   Not sure what to do with your kids on Election Day?  Sign up for this fun mini camp at Crave Yogurt or Melody Magic Music Studio.  Kids will enjoy building a Motorized lego creation, Lego games and free play with logos galore.  Ages 6-12.  Fee.

Studio Arts in the Evening: Painting Preparation & Contemporary Applications.  4:30pm-6:30pm. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Teen Programs.  Fee.

Special Night for Special Needs.  5:30pm-7:30pm.  CMoR Central.  The Children’s Museum of Richmond will open its doors for an evening especially for children 10 years old and younger who have special needs and their families.  Free.

The Wonder of Girls (Parents of girls 9-14 years).  6:30pm-8:30pm.  Delivered by Commonwealth Parenting.  Fee.

Thursday, November 8th

Thursday, November 8th-Saturday, November 10th

The SS Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral Mini Greek Festival. 11am-8pm on Thursday-Saturday. There’ll be sanctuary tours, Hellenic Dancers, an International Bazaar, & ample Greek pastries. If you’re in a hurry, you can pick up Express Meals to go or phone or fax in an a la carte order.

Friday, November 9th

Santa Arrives. 6pm.  Chesterfield Towne Center.  Kick-off the holiday season with a grand ceremony to light the tree with the children. Live jazz music provided by the Monacan High School Jazz Band and a parade with Santa through the mall to his set where he will be through December 24th for pictures and visits with the children.

Holly Jolly Christmas on Lakeside Avenue. Lakeside-area merchants, including the Garden Shop, stay open later for holiday shopping (until 9 pm). 1800 Lakeside Avenue. Free trolleys running. Park at the Lewis Ginter Garden and shop and catch the trolley to the stores along Lakeside Avenue.

Neighborhood Toy Store Day. Support Richmond’s local retailers!  Toys That Teach, World of Mirth and the Toy Center.  World of Mirth will be having a comic strip demo from Pixel Pirate Studios & Mickey’s Magic Show.  Free.

10th Annual Ashland Train Day.  10am-4pm.  An event for the whole family. Come visit us at the Ashland Library along the tracks for a day of fun and excitement. We have music, games, lots of model trains, children’s train rides, trolley rides, food, railroad related vendors, displays and of course our mascots, plus much, much more. So hop on board and come on down. Don’t forget to bring your camera. Dress up for the day in your bib overalls, bandana and engineer hat. We’ll also be in our best railroad attire for you to! Don’t forget the camera! Oh, we forgot to say . . . . We’ve got real trains too, all day, right out front.  Free.

Meet the Cat in the Hat.  10am-4pm.  CMoR Chesterfield.  Special appearances from the Cat himself, special story time and activities throughout the day!  Free with museum admission.

Made by Me: Crafty Creations.  10:15am-Noon. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Kids Programs.  Fee.

Kids Night Out at Romp n Roll 5pm-8pm.  Romp n’ Roll Midlothian,  11541 Busy St., Richmond VA 23236.  Every kid deserves a special night out…and so do you! That’s why we created Kids Night Out. Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run and play with our energetic instructors and enjoy a Pizza Party dinner at Romp n’ Roll! A perfect evening indeed! $30, which includes a pizza dinner. Ages 2-5 (potty-training not required). Reservations Required.

Tree Lighting, Music and Holiday Fun.  6pm.  Stony Point Fashion Park.  Kick-off the holidays with an animated light show. Enjoy music from the Kings of Swing, giveaways, holiday cheer, and balloon creations for kids 10 and under, while supplies last. At 7:00 p.m. count down the illumination of the animated Community Tree.

Santa’s Saturday at the Children’s Place. 8:30am-9:30am. Virginia Center. Simon Kidgits Club and The Children’s Place team up to bring you the most anticipated event of the year….Santa Saturday! Kidgits members will delight in the magic of the season with a breakfast, fun holiday activities, a parade led by Santa himself and an ornament making craft and visits from Santa at The Children’s Place. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED! Space is limited. Admission is free for Simon Kidgits Club members and $3.00 each for Non- members. For more information, call Guest Services at (804) 266-9002.

Santa’s Arrival: 12:00 Noon. Visit Santa’s Winter Wonderland at Virginia Center Commons JC Penney Court and have your holiday photo taken with St. Nick!

Real to Reel: Movies in Time – Red Badge of Courage (1951).  2pm-4pm.  Henrico Theatre. Ever wonder how historically accurate our favorite films really are? Come and enjoy the movie Red Badge of Courage proceeded by a discussion highlighting the major historic themes including fear, courage, and Civil War soldier experiences in “seeing the elephant.” Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Parental discretion advised. Free.
