Aspergers Syndrome

•  Richmond Aspergers Group  - A support group for parents of children with Aspergers Syndrome. They meet monthly at the River City Diner on Parham and I-95, from 7-9pm in the evening. Meetings are for adults with AS, parents and children over age 10, for support, discussion, education, parent advocacy and adult self-advocacy. There is also a West End Asperger's Meeting at the Tuckahoe YMCA on the third Thursday of the month.  It's a forum for parents of Aspies of all ages to provide support and education about  behavioral challenges, schools, IEPs, doctors, assessments, etc.;and to discuss strategies to increase parent advocacy skills. There is NO CHILDCARE AVAILABLE at this time except for Y members, and only then until 8pm.

Baby Proofing

•  BabyProofing Richmond offers baby proofing services to caregivers, parents and grandparents of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  Their professional ‘child proofers’ have extensive training and experience and can identify many dangers in the home and recommend solutions that best fit the family’s needs.  BabyProofing Richmond does the market research to find the best products and does not carry one product line or vendor, and they also have access to many safety items that can not be found at local retailers.   They also provide "no fee” presentations to Moms Groups, Church Groups and any other organization that is interested in child safety.
