Summer at Camp Friendship

Safe, of course. Fun, absolutely!

At Camp Friendship, everything goes back to a simpler time, which is particularly powerful with today’s plugged in world. At camp you share. You make forts. You make friends.

Family-Owned and Run

Chuck Ackenbom established Camp Friendship in 1966, and the business is still proudly run by the Ackenbom family today. We call ourselves a traditional camp but don’t be fooled by what others may deem traditional. Our traditions are timeless–steeped in a simple way of life and acceptance for all. Diverse by design, we offer a vibrant environment founded in kindness. Here at camp, we embrace differences. We know being a kid can be hard, but being yourself should be easy.

Traditional Camp, Equestrian Camp & Family Camp

Campers attending Camp Friendship in the summer choose between Traditional Camp (co-ed, ages 7-16) and Equestrian Camp (girls only, ages 9-16).
Traditional campers ages 7-12 live in Junior Boys and Junior Girls Villages, while Senior campers ages 13-16 live in co-ed Senior Villages. View Camp Friendship session dates and rates.

Equestrian Camp is an overnight program for girls who LOVE horses. Equestrian Campers live in our Equestrian Village directly across from the barn and participate in daily ring lessons, fun rides such as trail rides and games on horseback. Learn more about Equestrian Camp.

Family Camp is an all-inclusive family holiday, because camp fun shouldn’t have an age limit! Family Camp is the perfect setting for families to come together under the stars, with exciting activities to suit all ages! Camp Friendship offers Family Camp weekends in the Spring and Summer.  Families stay in their own traditional cabin with enough bunk beds to accommodate up to 12 family members. Pick your path!

Campers in Traditional Camp choose their favorite activities from our list of over 35 options and receive a personalized schedule for the week. Our camp activities include camp classics such as archery, mountain biking, fishing, tennis, canoeing, volleyball, arts and crafts and performing arts. Campers can also do unique sports and activities such as fencing, mountain boarding, wilderness survival, aqua Zumba, Dungeons & Dragons, gymnastics and aerial silks.

The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down! Different activities are offered each evening, where campers get to know each other and have fun together at the end of every day.
