Eerie Canal Tours at the Canal Turning Basin – Dock and 14th Streets.  6pm- 9pm.  FREE Admission.
Venture Richmond hosts a special night of FREE hauntingly-narrated canal boat tours complete with candy for the little ones! Special 30 minute tours leave every half hour (on the hour and half hour) from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., with the last boat departing at 8:30 p.m. Boats depart from the Canal Turning Basin at 14th and Dock Streets.

The Eerie Canal Tours will feature haunting tales of Richmond’s past as passengers travel down the historic Kanawha Canal, drifting through the spooky sights and sounds of Richmond’s oldest and most historically haunted districts. Halloween Haunt.  King Dominion.  Each weekend night, Kings Dominion transforms into a horror-filled nightmare.  From mazes with terrifying creatures around every corner to thrill rides that’ll haunt your dreams, it’s everything you fear and can’t wait to experience. Not for anyone under 13.  Fee.

Petersburg Haunts Tour.  7pm.   Petersburg Courthouse, Petersburg, VA.   Meet at the Courthouse, 7 Courthouse Ave., 15 minutes before the tour starts at 7pm.  Find out why Petersburg is such a “spirited” city and visit some of the town’s most historic buildings. 90 minute tours are led by costumed, lantern-carrying storytellers. 804-943-8635.  Fee.

Eerie Nights Ghost Tour.  8pm & 10pm.  Main Street Side of the 17th Street Farmers Market.  Eerie Nights is a theatrical story telling experience where guides in character, special effects make-up and costume tell you the history and paranormal activity associated with several historical and haunted locations.  Fee.

Saturday nights through October

Ghouls Ghost Tours.  9pm.  A Trolley Tour.  Main Street Side of the 17th Street Farmers Market (with Eerie Nights Tours).  Tours are geared towards a mature audience but families are welcome. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Haunting Tales and Tours.  3:30pm.  The unique tour of Edgewood, Berkeley & Shirley Plantations will give an insight on the spirits and mysteries of these three historic homes in Charles City, VA.  Hear the haunting tales of the paranormal activities at each site.  Reservations required.  Fee.

October 22nd, 23rd and 24th

Haunted Henricus: Things that Go Bump In the Night.  7pm-9pm.  Henricus Historical Park.  Experience an evening of spellbinding accounts and legendary tales as storytellers relive old English and Virginia Indian legends and folklore. Join them by the fireside and listen to European stories early Colonists told as they recounted tales from their homeland. Capture the essence of what a Colonist felt between 1607-1622 in a strange new land surrounded by danger, darkness and uncertain peril. The harvest is in, the nights grow longer and danger lurks in the shadows.  This year there is an overnight Haunted evening being offered.  Light refreshments served.  Tours not appropriate for children under 6. Fancy Me Mad: Tales from Edgar Allen Poe + Graveyard Tour.  6pm – 8pm.  St. John’s Church, 2401 E. Broad Street Richmond, 23223.  Tales from Edgar Allen Poe followed by a self-guided walking tour of the graveyard.  Among the spirits represented: Edgar’s mother Eliza Poe, George Wythe and his murderous nephew, and Elizabeth Van Lew – Union spy.  Fee.
