CMoR’s College Tuition Raffle

CMoR Announces 2nd Annual College Tuition Raffle

4 Years of prePaid Tuition Can Be Yours

cmor tuitionThe Children’s Museum of Richmond will launch its second annual College Tuition Raffle on May 29th. The winning ticket will be drawn June 30, with the owner receiving an eight semester Tier I Virginia529 prePaid tuition contract. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s free and reduced price admission program, which last year underwrote the cost of museum admission for 99,000 of the museum’s 429,000 visitors. Raffle tickets can be purchased: 1 for $45, 2 for $80, 5 for $180, 10 for $300.

“We sold more than 3,000 tickets last year, so I think it is safe to say the community was behind the effort. Odds of one in 3,000 are excellent for a prize worth about $60,000” said Karen Coltrane, the Children’s Museum’s president and CEO. “And we love the idea of giving one child a fully paid college education while making Children’s Museum visits possible for thousands who couldn’t otherwise afford it.”

The museum is partnering with Virginia529 College Savings Plan again, which is providing marketing support for the effort. “Virginia529 is pleased to provide an eight semester prePAID Tuition Contract for raffle with the Children’s Museum of Richmond for the raffle’s second year,” said Mary Morris, CEO of Virginia529. “What a great prize for the lucky winner – a full four years of tuition and mandatory fees covered at any Virginia public university. The value of the eight semester tuition contract will vary based on the age of the named recipient, but will be between $57,000 and $61,400.”

James River Air is also supporting the effort. JRA president Hugh Joyce states “We are pleased to partner again with the Children’s Museum on their unique Tuition Raffle. Last year, as soon as Karen Coltrane told me about the plans for the raffle, I purchased 100 tickets to give away to my customers. We were so excited when one of our customers had the winning ticket. With only a few thousand tickets in circulation, the odds of winning are excellent.” The locally owned heating and air conditioning company will feature the Children’s Museum’s tuition raffle in its upcoming spring television promotion again this year. “Where else can you have such an excellent chance to win four years of college tuition for $45, while also supporting a beloved community organization?”

Tickets will be available at all four Children’s Museum of Richmond locations through June 29 and online through the museum’s website at www.c-mor.org/tuition-raffle through the morning of June 30.
