Children’s Museum of Richmond Celebrates Black History Month

CMoR-logo-redIn celebration of Black History Month, during the month of February, the Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMoR) will showcase both traditional and modern African American music and dance through special performances and activities.

The Black History Month performance schedule follows:

•On Saturday, February 1st, New Legacy Jazz Band, an interactive jazz ensemble, will feature jazz through the ages. Performances will take place at CMoR’s Central location (2626 West Broad Street) at 11am and 1pm.

•On Saturday, February 8th, Robert Jospe and the World Beat Workshop will showcase music from a variety of countries around the globe and how their rhythms and beats are connected. Performances take place at CMoR’s Central location (2626 West Broad Street) at 11am – and at CMoR’s Chesterfield location in Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center (6629 Lake Harbour Drive) in Midlothian at 1:30pm.

•On Saturday, February 15th, the Richmond Boys Choir will perform historic, traditional, and modern songs at 11am at CMoR’s Central location (2626 West Broad Street) – and at CMoR’s Chesterfield location in Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center (6629 Lake Harbour Drive) in Midlothian at 1pm.

•On Saturday, February 22nd, Ezibu Muntu African Dance Company will perform a variety of African dances and songs that encourage audience participation. Attendees will also learn words to traditional African songs. There will be two performances – both will take place at CMoR’s Central location (2626 West Broad Street) at 1pm and 2:30 pm.

•On Sunday, February 23rd – Join Ezibu Muntu once again for performances at 2:30pm and 3:30pm at CMoR’s Chesterfield location in Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center (6629 Lake Harbour Drive) in Midlothian.
