watermelon festivalThe Watermelon Festival is August 11th from 10am-6pm!

The Carytown Watermelon Festival presented by Martin’s has become one of the largest one day festivals in Virginia.  It is an admission FREE festival, although there are over 100 exhibitors and things to buy throughout the festival.  If you forget to bring cash, there are ATMs located in several locations in Carytown (click here for a link to the map).  In addition there are over 75 music performances in different locations.

The Watermelon Festival has a huge kid’s zone with a ton of stuff for kids to do – bouncies, games, mazes and more.  This area is located in Cary Court and Sponsored by Richmond Area Toyota Dealers.

It is worth it to wear comfortable shoes for all the walking you will do.  And don’t forget sunscreen, hats and sunglasses if the weather permits.

Parking can be a little tricky for this event, so going early helps.   But be sure to observe the no parking signs, you will still get a ticket.

As for the watermelon. It will be sold in various locations in the festival.  Proceeds will directly benefit the Shiner’s Children’s Hospital.

This festival is a great Richmond tradition – don’t miss it!
