Tuesday, March 5th

Club Mom, powered by National Geographic Kids.  9am-11am.  Chesterfield Towne Center.  Club Mom occurs the first Tuesday of every month in our Food Court from 9-11 a.m. and features great entertainment, fun giveaways for the adults, and free breakfast for children 12 years or younger. (Breakfast tickets are given out until 10:30 a.m. and are valid until 10:45 a.m. on Club Mom event days.).  Would you like to become a member? Stop by the Registration Table and sign up. Garden Explorations for Families- Orchids Organza. 3:30pm. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Children (all ages) with accompanying adult. Enjoy story time and a fun-filled adventure while exploring different areas of the Garden. We observe our surroundings using a variety of hands-on activities and take-home treasures. Themes change each month and new stories, activities and garden areas are introduced each week. Garden Explorations for Families is an excellent opportunity for homeschoolers! Fee.

Radio Players Present Radio Goes to War.  7:30pm.  The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. For all ages. The On-the-Air Radio Players are pleased to present an old-time radio show taped before a live audience! Come and be a part of this hour-long taping featuring live music, live sound effects, and radio stories direct from World War II.  Free.

Youth Training Day with the Richmond Raiders!  11am-1pm.  Chesterfield Towne Center Parking Lot (Macy’s on Huguenot Rd. side).  Richmond Raider players, Risky the mascot and the Lady Raider Dance Team will root the kids on during the kick and pass competitions. Events will include passing accuracy, passing distance, and place kicking games.  Kids will be up close with uniformed Raider players and will compete for immediate prizes and to go to the final competition at halftime of the Richmond Raiders home game on March 23, their Youth Achievement Night.  Age divisions for the competition are 6-8 years, 9-11 years and 12-14 years.  No advance sign up required, walk-up registration on day of event.  Free.

TCBY Grand Opening Celebration.  Noon.  9468 West Broad Street.   Free yogurt, hourly drawings, live music, caricature and balloon artists.

Blacksmithing: Too Many Irons in the Fire.  12:30-3:30pm.  Meadow Farm Museum.  For all ages. The blacksmith was a very important member of the 19th-century rural community. Watch and listen to the blacksmith as the iron gets red-hot and the smith pounds and bends it into useful objects. Free.

Life at Lee’s Headquarters.  1pm-3pm.  Dabbs House Museum.  For all ages. For 62 days in 1862, the Dabbs House was transformed into a Civil War headquarters when General Robert E. Lee and his staff of seven arrived. Learn about daily life at the headquarters and Henrico’s role in Civil War history. Children’s activities, interpretive panels, and tours will be offered.  Free.

Richmond Ballet Minds in Motion.  4pm.  Henrico Theatre.  For all ages. Richmond Ballet’s Minds in Motion Team XXL returns to Henrico Theatre! This group of youthful, diverse, high-energy dancers combine pedestrian movement and rhythmic patterning into exciting and intricate choreography.  Reservations can be made beginning up to one month in advance.  Free.

Family Yoga Classes. 4pm. A family yoga class for parent and child to have some fun bonding through yoga. Come out to the first class and see if you like it. If you do, sign up then and get a discount for the entire session. First class for one parent and one child is $15. Each additional parent or sibling is only $5 more! This will be a six week session with continuing classes resuming on Sunday Feb. 17- Mar. 17. All classes will be at 4:00pm.
