If you forgot to prepare a treat for Valentine’s Day, there is still time – check out some of our quick and easy ideas. Garden Explorations for Families- Birds in Winter.  3:30pm.  Lewis Ginter botanical Gardens.  Children (all ages) with accompanying adult. Enjoy story time and a fun-filled adventure while exploring different areas of the Garden. We observe our surroundings using a variety of hands-on activities and take-home treasures. Themes change each month and new stories, activities and garden areas are introduced each week. Garden Explorations for Families is an excellent opportunity for homeschoolers!  Fee.

Parents will also have the opportunity to watch an informational DVD and time for conversations and questions. Valentine’s Kids Night Out at Romp n’ Roll! 5-8pm. Romp n’ Roll is happy to announce a special Kids Night Out event for children ages 2-5 years. It includes three hours of Romp n’ Roll fun, including the creation of a special Valentine art project. Kids will also be treated to a pizza dinner and plenty of gym and music time. This is the perfect opportunity to schedule a night out with your valentine while knowing your child is having a blast at Romp n’ Roll. Fee.

Phil Wiggins Performance.  Workshop at 11am, Performance at 1pm.    Children’s Museum – Central.  Enjoy a special performances celebrating African American culture and history.  Learn to play the harmonica and enjoy a performance with musician Phil Wiggins. Event is free with museum admission.

Upstairs/Downstairs – Maymont Honors Black History Month.  12:30pm.  Maymont Mansion.   Explore Maymont Mansion from the perspective of the employees who toiled behind the scenes to maintain a millionaire’s home in turn-of-the-twentieth-century Richmond. Visit the kitchen, butler’s pantry, back stairs, the formal spaces and more to discover how the conscientious and efficient staff went about their daily work to care for the Dooleys and their guests.  Fee.

Theatre IV: Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.  2:30pm & 5:30pm.  Henrico Theatre.  For all ages. This stirring drama with music is a classic tribute to the great American who freed herself and hundreds of her people from the bonds of slavery.
