Short Pump Pals Clubhouse Meeting. 11am.    Short Pump Mall Food Court. C’est Madeline! In this festive holiday musical, Miss Clavel and all the other little girls catch the flu… but not Madeline. With the help of a magical rug salesman and a dose of holiday cheer, Madeline finds a way to nurse her friends back to health and get them to their families in time for Christmas. Including such charming songs as “Achoo!,” “Abracadabra,” and “Bonne Annee,” this holiday treat will have the whole family singing on the way home! Joyeux Noël!  Free.

Target $1 Family Night.  5pm-7:30pm.  Children’s Museum – Central.  Bring the whole family to enjoy the museum’s exhibits and activities for only $1 each thanks to a generous donation from Target! Only at CMoR Central.  Note: For the safety of all visitors, the museum requires a ratio of one adult for every five children.

Santa’s Arrival and Grand Illumination. 6pm.  Short Pump Mall.  Children of all ages will enjoy the arrival of Santa and his holiday parade, featuring: The Gingerbread Boy, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Frosty, Toy Soldiers, Dancing Tree, Santa’s Elves, characters from cast of The Richmond Ballet’s The Nutcracker and much more! The parade will also feature our Short Pump’s very own Snow Princess and of course Santa himself.

Book Club at Sweet Spot.  7pm.  Sweet Spot, West Broad Village, 2228 Old Brick Road, Glen Allen.  This month’s book is ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio.  Wonder encourages readers to think about empathy, compassion and acceptance as they discover how a 5th grade boy wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid, despite being born with a facial deformity.  Recommended age level is 8 and up.  Book club readers receive a sweet treat for an act of kindness they perform.  Reserve a spot 360.7768.  Free.

Capitol Opera Richmond: “La Boheme”.   7:30pm.  Henrico Theatre.  Please join us for Capitol Opera Richmond’s inaugural performance of Puccini’s famous love story “La Boheme.” An evening of beautiful music, featuring local artists, and the Greater Richmond Children’s Choir. Sung in Italian with English subtitles.  For all ages. Free.

Saturday, November 17th

Santa Magically Appears at Regency Square.  8am-10am.  Regency Square Mall Food court.  A morning full fun and magic!  First 50 kids* receive a FREE Chick-fil-A breakfast, Fun with the Chick-fil-A Cow, Face painting and balloon twists by Miss Sheri, Mickey’s Magic Show, and Sing-along with Santa.  Ages 10 years and under.

4th Annual Ballpark Warming Party – Coats for Kids.  9am-Noon.  The Diamond.  Donate coats as the Flying Squirrels team up with Puritan Cleaners for the 4th Annual Coats for Kids Drive.  The morning will feature live music, hot beverages, inflatables, games, crafts and so much more!  Fans are encouraged to donate a coat when you come and receive a raffle ticket for each coat donated to win prizes!  Free.

One Great Morning Of Raking At Maymont.  9am.  Maymont Japanese Garden.  Great volunteer opportunity for older children.

Sweet Spot Celebration. 2pm. Sweet Spot in Short Pump. Enjoy fun with them lighting the candles and slicing up a 27 pound Gummy Bear to celebrate their anniversary! Everyone receives 20% off their total purchase to celebrate.

Stories at the Museum.  11am-Noon. Virginia Historical Society.  Explore American History with arts and crafts and the reading of a children’s history book.  This month’s theme – Native American Heritage.  Open to children of all ages.  Free.

Dunkin Donuts Munchkin Run. 11am. Clover High School Campus, Midlothian, VA. A charity race for the Kids of ASK, hosted by the KIDS at Clover High School’s Varsity Outreach Club. 5k race and donuts!

Thanksgiving 1863.  12:30pm-3:30pm. Meadow Farm Museum.  The year is 1863 and the country is being torn apart by war. President Lincoln made the Proclamation of Thanksgiving. Pull up a seat and learn more about Thanksgiving as the ladies prepare foods to celebrate.  For all ages. Free.

Saturdays in the Studio: Creative Writing & Design.  1pm-4pm. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts – Teen Programs.  Fee.

“Clara’s Toy Shoppe”.  4:30pm and 7pm.  The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Holiday dance performance by The Dance Company. Fun for the whole family!  Fee.

Tree Lighting Toast.  5pm-8pm. Willow Lawn.  Come join Silly Bus, Jonathan the Juggler, and Kurt Sternhagen for the annual Tree Lighting event! There will also be arts & crafts, giveaways, and free photos with Santa. What a great way to start the holiday season!

Kids Night Out at Romp n Roll.  5pm-8pm.  Romp n’ Roll West End, 9677 W. Broad St. Glen Allen VA 23060.  Every kid deserves a special night out…and so do you! That’s why we created Kids Night Out. Parents get an evening to themselves while the children get to run and play with our energetic instructors and enjoy a Pizza Party dinner at Romp n’ Roll! A perfect evening indeed! $30, which includes a pizza dinner. Ages 2-5 (potty-training not required). Reservations Required.

Legendary Santa visits Saks Fifth Avenue to Benefit CMoR. 5:30pm. Adults can shop to your heart’s content at Sak’s that evening, when 10% of in-store sales on November 17th and 18th will be donated to the Children’s Museum of Richmond*. You can also enjoy an exclusive Jewelry Show by Temple St. Clair, a Radko Ornament Signing by a Radko Designer, a Birger Christensen Fur Trunk Show and Cartier Vintage Watch Trunk Show.
