The end of the year is the beginning of the fun at the Science Museum of Virginia. Where else can you learn, have fun, shop, and more? And for such a reasonable cost?

Check out the upcoming specials and events at the Science Museum of Virginia:

• The 35th Annual Model Railroad Show is November 23-25, 2012 from 9:30am – 5:00pm. Enjoy the most magical train layouts in Virginia. Learn to build your own train layout and enjoy a brand new IMAX^® film on what else – Trains! Tour the Museum’s RF&P Car ONE, watch blacksmith Gerald Boggs create items from railroad spikes and play Railroad Jeopardy! The Model Railroad Show is included with exhibit admission. Films in the IMAX^®DOME are $9 or $5 for members.
• Member Double Discount Week at Shop4Science is December 1-9, 2012. Take advantage of this membership perk while you are shopping for holiday gifts in the Museum store, Shop4Science. The store is filled with unusual and exciting gifts, as is the store in the exhibition Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked The World! It’s the perfect time to pick up Christmas or other holiday gifts.
• Live Acoustic Guitar Performance is December 1 at 1:00pm.  Join in for a live acoustic performance by Richmond Area musicians, on stage in the Guitar: The Instrument that Rocked the World gallery! 1 pm –Cashmere Jungle Lords share their popular pop and alternative sounds. Often their music is called Southern-fried Salsa Surfabilly or Western Surf Jungle Rock. This versatile group is custom-tailoring its set list. The performance will be about an hour long and is included with Museum admission.
• Member Polar Express Pajama Party is December 8 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. (Sorry, December 7 is already sold out!). Climb aboard on the Polar Express! Children are invited to dress in their favorite pajamas and bring the entire family along. Join us before the film for fun activities – and milk and cookies too! Free for members.
